Dilettante - Life And Times

Wisconsin's finest instrumental math rock band Dilettante. branches out into the realm of post rock with new song "Life And Times."

A slow and moody riff brings life into this track in the form of a spacey summertime synth breathing in and out embracing my ears in warmness as the song progresses.

A Guitar lick akin to a chicken bawking hits with a twang.

A brisk drum beat hustles with frenetic tom and snare rolls alongside the other instruments in the mix.

In comes the buildup to a stop-start climax

Sounding like altered vocals a guitar riff with effects emobodies a robot voice singing.

A brief pause ensues as things slow down with a piano descent. Nature sounds bring in a different and more vivid atmosphere to the experience.

A mathy poly rhythmic guitar riff kicks off the second climax type part of the song and makes way for the closing section.

Ending with asiwyfa vibes an anthemic lead guitar riff alongside the original warm synth riff from the beginning evokes a period of reflection and excitement at the same time.

The "chicken bawk" guitar riff from the beginning comes in again bringing everything full circle.

This song is more post-rock sounding than any other dilletante. song so far, and I'm not mad at them! This song reminds me a little bit of one of my favorite bands that I've been covering for many years called North End. Head over to Dilettante.'s bandcamp to support the artists and stream more! -M Chan
